The Bavarian-based automaker is now working hard to enhance and redesigning the 2015 Audi A4 before the new models hit the market sometime later this year. The new-gen A4 sedan will reportedly get a significant design changes, both in terms of exterior and interior. What we know so far is that the next-generation model will adopt a new design styling combined with the bolder stance and luxurious feel, as you can see in the picture above.
Outside, the redesigned Audi A4 four-door sedan will allegedly also bring muscular design styling combined with LED-infused headlights, three-dimensional shaped grille and distinctive rear spoiler. While the rear end of the car featuring a rectangular shaped exhaust tip. The interior will be equipped with several new features that include a rearview mirror with integrated info display, new MMI infotainment system and a touchpad controller.
However, not only the design aspects that will be the main focus for Audi to enhance its A4 flagship sedan. The German automaker would be more focused on the engine and car body weight, especially in terms of technology and efficiency. The next-generation A4 models will benefit from the use of the new Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLB), which is claimed to reduce car body weight significantly and certainly it’s more efficient.
Engine Specs, Horsepower and Torque
The MLB platform has previously been used in the Audi Sport Quattro Concept that made its first debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in September last year. This platform combines several materials to make the vehicle weight to be lighter and more efficient, including using aluminum, ultra-high strength steel and composites.
The base 2015 Audi A4 (B9) will most likely be equipped with a 1.4-liter TSI four-cylinder engine featuring a new cylinder deactivation technology. Rumors suggest that the 1.4-liter TSI is able to develop its maximum output at least 122 horsepower up to 180 horsepower. As for the North American market, Audi probably will still offer a 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine that can deliver 220-225 horsepower, followed by a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine as an option for those who are looking for higher output.
A plug-in hybrid version will reportedly be available in the United States in the future, but we don’t know for sure whether it’s true or just a rumor. The A4 plug-in hybrid system will consist of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mounted exclusively to an electric motor with 95 horsepower. This system is claimed to offer long-distance travel at least up to 31 miles, even when you decide to drive this car in pure electric mode.
In addition, Audi will reportedly also offer a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine for the 2015 model year, though apparently it’s still a rumor. The upcoming Audi A4 sedan may still be available with a standard front-wheel drive setup, while Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system can be ordered as optional. All engine options can be paired to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, depending on your choice.
2015 Audi A4 Release Date scheduled for later this year
Although the Ingolstadt automaker has not officially announced its release schedule, but we predict that the next-gen 2015 Audi A4 will arrive in the U.S. market later this year, while the European markets will get first before being sold to other markets. Price estimates for the new model will probably start at around $35,100, considering the current model starts at $33,800 and 2013 model priced at $32,500.
